The Great Dilemna - to live for the moment or for the ages.
I wrote this back when I was in my twenties, "pleasure" was was winning (bigtime), and I thought I could never change. There's more balance in my life today, but the battle continues

 BUSINESS & PLEASURE

©1999 JIM HARRIS

LOST IN MY LABOR
I'M ALWAYS DREAMING IN SOUND
LOST IN MY NEIGHBOR
OR ELSE I'M SLEEPIN' AROUND

SPIRIT OR LETTER
TO REAP THE MOMENT OR SOW IT
WHICH IS THE BETTER
HOW CAN I EVER KNOW IT

MOVING TO THE RHYTHMS OF THE SAME OLD SONG
NO MATTER WHER I MAKE MY BED
MY HEAD KEEPS ME FED
MY HEART KEEPS ME HOPPIN'
LOOKS LIKE IT'S NEVER STOPPIN'

SEPARATE SURVIVALS
AT EITHER END OF THE RAINBOW
RAMBLIN' RIVALS
I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO

THERE'S NO USE IN VENTURES OUT OF CHARACTER
BECAUSE MY NATURE WILL PREVAIL
AND THEY'LL ONLY FAIL
IT ISN'T SURPRISING
THERE AIN'T NO COMPRIMISING

BUSINESS AND PLEASURE
THEY GOT ME COMIN' AND GOIN'
EACH IN THEIR MEASURE
BEFORE THE END OF THE SONG
